In very warm weather and battling the elements we had quite a few chances against Harlow in the first game played well enough to win but just couldn’t see it over the line.

Second game against Little Oakley we started well, but couldn’t score that all important goal, their keeper was in great form throughout, their first goal came from an obvious foot in the area to score, but the referee gave the goal, their second goal came about after we were pushing to get back in the game. We were given a penalty near the end for the same offence by them but it was disallowed for a minor infringement.

The third game against Chelmsford was end to end stuff and both  sides had good  opportunities, but 20 seconds from the end (yes 20 seconds) they got a fluky goal to nick the win; their lads, who we know well, all apologised at the end because we more than deserved at least a draw.

The last game against Cheshunt (where the heat was becoming unbearable) was another close affair and we should have got something out of the game but they did well to keep the ball after having scored another disputable goal and saw the game out to its 1-0 conclusion.

It’s been said many times before but it’s always about small margins and today was no exception , thanks also to John and Alan for their contribution, we know it’s not easy playing in your first League matches but well done both of you.

We play again in a couple of weeks time and let’s hope for cooler weather!
