LEAGUE TITLE AGONY....
With Blues needing to win both of their matches
to have any chance of taking the league,we went ahead in the opener against Barnet through a well-taken Mark Hughes goal.
Barnet created a few chances but good goalkeeping by our manager JW kept them at bay. Second half was reasonably even until a well placed pass from Mark Hughes found Rob Evison who slotted home to make it 2-0
So having got that good start and the 3 points we were still neck and neck with Oakley, so the title was on the last two matches; they had to play a scratch Chelmsford side and we had to play Cheshunt. Blues started well and finally got the first goal when Rob E was found free on the right and smashed the ball in from 12 yards out.
Cheshunt did manage to get an equaliser and the second half was a much tighter game with chances at both ends but eventually a great pass from Mark Hughes found Rob who turned his defender ust outside the box to slot home what turned out to be the winning goal 2-1
So we managed to win both of our last games and remained unbeaten for the season, only to then see Little Oakley beat the Chelmsford side 4-0.. That was enough for them to win the title on goal difference (+3). Speaking to them afterwards they would have much rather have played their last matches instead of being awarded those 3 points which even they thought was a little unfair considering what was at stake.
But after all that, as we said in the dressing room we had a terrific and successful season and if we had been offered the League and Cup Runners up at the start of the season we would have bitten their hand off .
Big thank you to all squad members who have contributed throughout this season and to John Watson for doing a grand job of managing and the huge boost that gives our Club to have achieved those two runners up places.

Over 70s: Blues finish cup runners-up...
Our Over-70s Blues (pictured) had a great matchday to reach the final of the EWFL Challenge Cup.
In the group stage, Falcons opened with a goal-less draw with Barnet before beating Romford 2-0 and Orient 1-0 to top the group and qualify for the final. Mark Hughes bagged all three group goals.
Falcons were up against our old friends and rivals Wakering in the final. 2-0 down at half time Falcons came out fired up and got a goal back through Charlie Docherty. Wakering, however, play very good possession football and near the end of the game managed to get a third to win the final 3-1. As manager John Watson commented; “Well done lads, a very good performance today and we at least we got a medal for our hard work!”
