 On Tuesday 13th October the 70s Yellows squad headed for Billericay for the 70s Cup Finals.

In the first game the Yellows narrowly lost to Barnet 1-2, after Barnet scored a very early goal following an obvious and blatant foul that the referee failed to call.

The game was very tight and we would have deserved a 1-1 draw.

The Yellows then went on to beat Leyton Orient Reds 1-0 in the 2nd game, with a great goal scored by John Smith from a very acute angle.

In the 3rd game the Yellows held off a Romford team in a 0-0 draw.

With 1 loss, 1 win and a draw, the Yellows had sufficient points to progress to the 3rd/ 4th place play offs to face Norwich Blacks.

The game was very tight and the yellows performed very well against Norwich who sit at the top of the league. Both teams failed to score and so the game went to penalties.

Mark Bailey performed brilliantly in goal in every match and saved the first Norwich penalty.

Phil Iles then stepped up and scored putting the Yellows 1 up.

The Norwich striker then converted their next penalty and, unfortunately, the next 2 Yellows players failed to score with Norwich then converting and taking 3rd place.

I would like to thank again all the players for giving their absolute best in every game and to finish 4th in a 16-team competition is a marvellous result and one we should all be proud off.
